Customer Service Skills to be found where in Egypt?

I just called the san francisco egyptian embassy for visa info. The representative wasn't rude/friendly. I got the info. I needed...but what I'm wondering are there places outside of egyptian restaraunts where there is friendly customer service? i.e., asking how can I help you, how are you today..? The consulate worker didn't use any of those terms, it was a blunt question of "what do you need?" Are the U.S. consulate workers not customer service oriented to the egyptians seeking visas as well?

I hate the day when i go to apply for the visa in italian consulate in egypt.

I feel they are treating me as if I'm dying to go there, honestly unless it was my company who sent me for training I wouldn't think of going there.

I don't know about the US embassy, never been there.

consulate employees and customs officers.

I believe they all come from a different planet, and every nation gets a share. (except for switzerland)

try calling the american, french, turkish, german, or british consulate anywhere in the world, and ask for visa information......

i tried it. they're all the same.

do you want to say he was abrupt ?

this is natural , for if he said ,''how are you today ? '' he might be accused of being too familiar by some !

let's be glad when an official is direct , not rude and not familiar .

they dont know YOU , otherwise they would have been friendly .

in Egypt , the worst experience is going to an  embassy to get a visa .

you are suspected of i dont know what !

okay.. here we don't say the same exact words in arabic, we say other things like "you have honored us with ur call"

but we shouldn't be very friendly too, we don't ask "how r u?"
