What is a good program/software to use to file customers in the computer?

I work for a soil remediation company and folders are always all over the place they are hard to find even with a decent filing system. We would like to keep the files on the computer but in such a way where we can have form fields to fill in needed information such as address, name, etc... and be able to keep track if we have all the permits and such..

I would also like to keep it in sync with a visual calendar.

If anyone knows a good program or software to buy I would be willing to try it out.

I think what you need is a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager). There are several, most of them are very expensive, but take a look at SugarCRM (sugarcrm.org). They have a community edition that's free.
