Hi all, do you know of any places where you can make your own bags? I'm aware of timbuk2 but i'm thinking of other alternatives.

Thanks.

  1. other alternatives are to approach warehouse factories that specialize in transferring designs onto fabrics. if it's in personal use quantity, see if they have DIY kits or you can simply stich or iron on transfer at home. you can search for designers at 88db under business services. happy searching

  2. What kind of bags are you interested in? Totes, messenger bags (like Timbuk2) or ladies' handbags? If messenger bags, there's a brand called Tagger that allows you to mix and match the covers with the strap. It has an outlet at VivoCity  and I believe there's a similar brand at one or two shops in the Cathay @ Handy Road. One other alternative: check out the art 'flea' markets like the one at MAAD and find out if the people are willing to customise for you. There are also bag repair shops which may be willing to help you add a zip etc, but nothing fancy I would think. The Beach Road army market is another place where you can go if you need help in sewing something on, or other minor modifications. There are seamstresses there. If what you want is a unique bag that's not commonly available here, try ebay or etsy :) Hope that helps!
