Customs Clearance?

I was supposed to receive a packages 3 days ago.

I am wondering if it has been caught up in customs.

So does anyone know how i go about contacting the customs please???

So really for when a package goes through 'customs' i need that number.

Thanks to anyone who answers this in advance, really apreciate it.

  1. All packages go through Customs from foreign locations. Most go through very quickly. So it would depend upon if the item(s) are dutiable or not.

    Also, which post office it goes through for international will depend on where it comes from. That is, if the package is from Europe - probably JFK, from Asia - probably San Fran.

  2. You would probably end up wasting your time contacting Customs, as you would first need to know which port/airport its coming through, then the Customs reference, which will probably differ from the shipping reference that you have.

    The best route is to contact the shipping company - you'll need the Aiwaybill/consignment note number from the sender.  They will be able to tell you where it is.  they may use "Customs" as an excuse, but that is often used and is a lie, as most small shipments go through Customs quickly, especially with the big couriers (DHL/Fed Ex) as they may well be Customs cleared before they even arrive.

  3. i think the best thing to do would be to contact whoever sent you the package and see if they know what happened. packages are normally tracked in some way so i'm sure they could figure it out for you (perhaps THEY would contact customs)
