  1. depends on what is declared on the customs package and what is detected on the scanner.

it also depends on what type of shipping service. Express mail will move faster because of the guarantee. Regular - priority mail may take a few minutes to a few days to examine depending on what I mentioned above.

  2. Yeah, getting in isn't the problem.  Getting home is if you are doing Southern California.  SoCal crossings give you a couple options.  San Ysidro, Otay Mesa (further East) and Tecate (even FURTHER East.)  As a general rule Tecate will have the shortest wait (although some weekends it can be longer than SY and Otay) but it will put you out further East than some people like to be.  I generally come into TJ and check the SY crossing.  If it's too stacked I mosey over to Otay.  What usually happens is that Otay is shorter than SY but exactly the amount of time that it takes to get over to Otay!  ;)

If you're not coming across SoCal though...I don't know what to tell you.

  3. go to yahoo maps

  4. if youre driving  going across is fast  just drive through  unless they stop you  then it takes a few minutes,  but its unlikely theyll stop you,  depending on where you cross back over it could take a few hours some days.  the tijuana crossing is the busiest border crossing in the world,  ive waited as long as 3 hours and as little as 10 mins (christmas day)
