Cut Across looking very interesting in 32Red Handicap at Lingfield
Back at Lingfield, Cut Across has plenty going for him in Thursday’s 32Red Handicap. The 4-year-old has always been quite decent at this track, and looks in a great position to continue the same fashion.
Nick Littmoden’s charge made his debut here in February, when beating Absent Amy by half a length to clinch a handsome victory. After making a winning debut, he continued the fine stuff, and ran numerous good races early in the year.
On his previous venture here, the bay gelding was fourth in a very tough affair last month. In the Lingfieldpark.co.uk Handicap (Div II), he was slowly into stride. Although he ran decently in the hands of Seb Sanders, it was not possible for him to trouble the leaders.
The Nigel Shields-owned likes it here, and could be a big force today. The son of Cape Cross showed great progress at the end of last month, when securing the second place at Wolverhampton. The George Morris Handicap (Div II) saw him finishing second to the 5-4 favourite, Haftohaf, only by 1¾ lengths.
He is facing 10 racing giants over seven furlongs. The class-4 contest is scheduled to begin at 14:00 GMT. A cash prize of £4,075 is reserved for the ultimate champion.
The odds are not in Blue Jack’s favour, but we rate him the second best option. The Stuart Williams-trained has slipped in the weights, and even though the market is not speaking much about him, he surely makes good appeal. The 7-year-old will be very interesting, if he gets off to a good start.
Down in weights and grade, Bayleyf still has something to prove after a long break. Shahzan is running well on AW in hood, and should give another good account after sharing the podium the last twice.
Ertikaan is a consistent sort who should go well back up in trip. Yet, it is hard to trust Brendan Powell’s trainee. Prince Of Burma wasn’t disgraced last time, but might be better suited by this trip.
From a low draw, Warfare looks a fascinating runner. It will be interesting to see how Kevin Ryan’s trainee performs in the hands of Jamie Spencer.
