how can i cut 3 minutes off of my two mile time?

i play soccer, and our coach (at every practice, which is every other day) has us run two miles to begin with. he wants us to get it within 13:00 and 13:30 minutes. im at 16:40 ish D: BAD, i know.

how should i cut off the 3 minutes i need?

  1. You need to run faster. Without seeing you run it's hard to give specifics. Maybe you need to take longer strides. It might be something as simply as just running faster. You may need to run faster even if only for a shorter period of time. Keep this up till you can run faster for a longer period. It will seem hard to begin with, but everyone has to begin somewhere. Eventually you will be faster if you keep up the work.


  2. Do you run even on the days when you don't have practice? if not then you really need to.

    16:40, isn't bad, but it could be better.

    Be sure to do ab and core workouts. Also lift weights to help. You will improve in time.

  5. I've been running every other day for the past 3 months and my two mile time is 16:40 too. My best ever was 16 min flat. Making a 14 year old girl run 2 miles in 13 min is kinda crazy. Is your coach a n**i?
