Cut-throat conflict between Reckless Abandon and Moohaajim resurfaces in the Vision.ae Middle Park Stakes
The Group 1 Vision.ae Middle Park Stakes instigates the intense rivalry between the two iconic entries, Reckless Abandon and Moohaajim. The two have truly over shadowed the other eight two-year-old rivals who have stepped up for the six furlong race at Newmarket
on Saturday, 13th October. Five out of the last six who have bagged the winner’s prize money of the race were either victorious in the Prix Morny or the Mill Reef.
The contention between the two will spike as each has won one of the two pillars that cement the way to success in this race for the past few years.
The Clive Cox trained two-year-old bay colt, Reckless Abandon, excelled in the Group 1 Darley Prix Morny on 19th August, 2012 at Deauville over six furlongs. Gerald Mosse navigated his mount through the distance in a manner that George Vancouver
had to settle with the second position.
In the same line-up, Moohaajim, ended fifth in the field of eleven with jockey, Maxime Guyon, onboard.
Nearly a month down Reckless Abandon’s success, the favourite entry for the Group 2 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes, Marco Botti trained, Moohaajim, bagged the prize money coupled with 1 ¾ lengths margin.
The initial troublesome situation for trainer, Clive Cox was the selection for a jockey for his representative in the race, Reckless Abandon. The issue spurt when his regular jockey, Adam Kirby, joined teams with the fierce opponents, Moohaajim and his connections.
The Lambourn trainer was able to call back the jockey who took the 15 to 8 shot for the race twice to the winner’s enclosure, Gerald Mosse. Exchange Rate’s colt has drawn the second stall, while the 3 to 1 winning possibility of the race, Moohaajim, will
race from the seventh gate.
The ground conditions for the Clive Cox team simmered down too.
"I was very relieved when I walked the course on Thursday, there's a drying breeze in Newmarket and I hope it stays that way without too much rain," said Cox.
The rider for Cape Cross’ colt commented:
"They are two completely different horses, but both very special.
"I'd rather they were running in completely different races, but they're not and I decided on Moohaajim.
"It should be a really exciting race."
