Cute, small knitting patterns?

What are some cute and small (nothing that requires a ton of yarn) knitting patterns? I'm looking for something I could do without double pointed or circular needles and I didn't really want to make another scarf.

Any recommendations?

  2. small wash cloths knit in cotton, great baby presents, great way to increase your knitting ability.

    Baby sweater, try the 5 hour baby sweater.

    hats, the next step up from scarfs, you can knit them flat and seam them up, and they are fun to make and to give.

    bags, you can start simple with a basic rectangle, fold and seam, then move on to more complicated colors and patterns.

    toys, a knit bear, for instance, you can find the pattern on Knitty Gritty on www.diynetwork.com, cute, easy, and impressive.

    flowers, look good as embellishments.
