Cute but big?

my friend got me a really cute t-shirt for my b-day, but it is 2 sizes too big? is there any way i can shrink it without making it uneven? My mom said that she read somewhere that jeans can shrink if you sit in a tub of hot water wearing them and let them dry on you but will this work on my t-shirt? it is 65% cotton, 35% polyester

  1. can't you change it for a smaller one

  2. It won't be "uneven." Maybe ask your friend for the receipt so that you can take it back and replace it with your size? Otherwise, wash it in hot water and dry it in the dryer.

  3. if you wash it in hot water and dry it on high heat, it should shrink, but probably not as much as you want it to ... you should try it several times ... good luck

  4. Wash the T-shirt in very hot water. Add baking soda to the water to preserve any writing or illustrations.

Dry clothes in a very hot dryer (this is when the majority of the shrinking will take place). Leave the shirt in the dryer for a few minutes after the dryer. If it is still too big put it in the dryer again at a very hot temperature.

Ironing them with a hot iron while they are extremely damp (almost soaking wet). Push the iron from the outer edges of the garment toward the inside so that the garment is not inadvertently stretched as you iron. Keep ironing until the garment is approximately dry, then throw it in the dryer at a high temperature.

Tips                                                                                       Cotton will shrink the most.

Note that this may cause uneven shrinkage, and the neck, sleeves, and hem of your T-shirt may be a bit wavy as a result.

  5. I don't think you'll get it to shrink too much.  You might want to see if you can exchange it for a smaller size.

  6. hmmm

no other way... try to reworks the jeans

  7. i doubt it!  take it to the cleaners and have it taken in at the sides or if you know how get a hand held stich machine and stich it about 1/2 or 1/4 inch on each side....if it means that much to you its worth spending 10.00 on it.

  8. The polyester won't shrink.  Your Mom's idea would only work with 100% cotton.  See if you can take back the t-shirt for an exchange.  Good luck!

  9. dont you think it would be much easier to just take it back and get 2 sizs smaller?

  10. well what works for me is if i wash it in warm/hot water and then i put it in the dryer. i dont know if it'll shrink down enough to the size you want, but it'll probably shrink at least a bit.

  11. see if you can get the receipt from you friend and return it for a smaller size, if she is a true friend, she wouldn't be hurt
