  1. Hmm, depends what he is into.

Perhaps make a baskit with a ribbon on the outside saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY (thenw ahtever else you wish to add onto the ribbon) and then fill the baskit with some candies he enjoys.

Or buy a cheap video game (if he lieks video games) and take the game out and put paper on the inside with whatever you wish to say for his birthday. Then on the outside draw (or tape on) a picture of him as if he was in a video game.

    =)

  2. I once made my ex a card that he secretly enjoyed (he told me later). In the middle, I wrote "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" and then all around the border, I wrote him a note. I started from the outside and then started writing inwards, so that he had to continuously turn the card in order to read the note. And, because he's a private guy, I got some ribbon and covered up the borders (and hence the note) so that only the 'happy birthday' shown through, so that he had to "unwrap" it in order to read it.

or, you could try making a pop-up card. if you don't know how to make one, just type it into a search engine "pop up card" and you should get some good hits. and just draw something really simple and you've got a cute little card.

or you can try making a card out of collage...that way you wont have to draw anything, and you can find a bunch of fun little pictures out of mags that you think he'll like.
