Cutter, Ross named in Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Class AAA All-State Volleyball Team
Senior libero of Siegel High School girls’ volleyball team, Becca Cutter, led her team to great success in the recently ended 2011 season.
Likewise, the top-gun of Riverdale High School Chelsea Ross exhibited stellar performance in the regular season and helped the Warriors to reach the heights of fame. Cutter and Ross were named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association's Class AAA All-State
Volleyball Team on Wednesday, December 28.
Cutter received appreciation for her tricky bump passes, reception, and assistance that she provided to other players on her team, while Ross made a difference through her strong offense.
Lady Stars of Siegel High School qualified for the Class AAA state volleyball tournament for third time in a row. Along with her teammates, Cutter put up great effort and led the team to the Class AAA state volleyball tournament. On the other hand, Ross
was never behind in the game. Her team, the Riverdale Warriors, did the same as they reserved berth at the Class AAA tournament. Interestingly, the Warriors also entered the competition for third straight season. Ross emerged as the most powerful hitter in
District and helped the team with her extra-ordinary skills.
Lady Stars were supported by Cutter throughout the regular season. She totalled 714 digs and 67 aces in the season. Moreover, she was credited with 63 assists and also settled for the position of Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the Father Ryan Invitational.
The Warriors heroine Ross was more effective on the attack side. She notched 785 kills in addition to her 105 blocks in the 2011 season. Elsewhere, she added 358 digs and contributed 72 service aces. She set a record of 5.2 kills per set, which was pretty
impressive. On account of her wonderful performance, Ross was named to the All-State American team.
The Warriors became the top team at district level with an overall record of 9-1, while Lady Stars followed them with 6-2 record. The Head Coach of Warriors Jerry Snider praised the brilliant play of Ross as it was probably not possible to achieve such level
without her help.
