  1. Cutting is a very dangerous thing. If you were to tell your parents or counselor they would probably enroll you into a mental hospital where you would get the help you needed. It is safer for you to tell because soon you will be enjoyng life.

  2. You need some coping skills that you don't have now.

It's not uncommon that teenage girls cut but you could cut to deep and hurt yourself bad. Tell your mom that you need to go to the doctor on Saturday (so she knows it's not to get out of school) and explain to your pediatrician what's going on. They may be able to help there if not they can refer you to someone that can. They may simply give you an anti-anxiety meds they may do some counseling it all depends on the severity and your maturity level.

Your parents will likely misunderstand to begin with but it's very important that they know what is going on with you. Give us parents a break too, by the time we know how to parent you kids are at a different stage and we have to learn again.

Good luck, and get some help.

  3. Aw hun, I'm sorry you're feeling that way. I'm a cutter too, so I know what it's like.

I know this is a long answer but please read it.

Honestly, if you tell your parents, they're going to be freaked. There is no way around that. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't tell them. You really should sweetie, I know it will probably be hard to tell them, but it's better if you do. Now, if you're not cutting too deep, you probably won't be put into the psychiatric unit at the hospital, but it's possible. That might sound freaky but it's not really all that bad. Either way, they're probably going to want to get you some counseling.

If you don't want to tell them directly, tell your school counselor or a teacher. Or, you can say to your mom, "Mom, I need to talk to my doctor, but I can't tell you why. I'll tell you after I talk to the doctor."

Also, for more of a kind of self-help thing, snapping a rubber band on your skin can feel the same as cutting without having the damage or the danger of going too deep. Talking can also help. I know what you're going through, I've been through and am going through the same thing. If you want to talk to me by e-mail, my e-mail is vbgirl22jr@yahoo.com

I really hope someone can help you! Best wishes!!
