  1. nope not at my rink ='[

  2. a hyundai add was filmed at my rink

  3. Sounds like you are VERY near me!  I would venture to say all the rinks around here have closed at some point for filming.  Yep, we're near all the major studios!

I'd say there's a lot of filming going on at Pickwick, simply because they are the closest to the studios.  I don't know about filming, but I know there was some training going on for "Blades of Glory" there.

I'm sure it's been done in Culver too (just can't think).  My friends went for a commercial shoot in Pasadena.  I've seen clips of Sarah Karahawa at Simi on skating specials when she used to choreograph (I think when Scott Hamilton was skating).  I can't think of other specifics, but I'm sure there are more - both films and commercials.  Sometimes they will put up sets and you can't tell which rink it is.

And then there are times when you see big time skaters practicing at our rinks - that's aways neat.  Or celebrities here and there (like Mike Myers playing hockey or I remember seeing Jennifer Beals from Flashdance just skating around) . . . and celebrity parents of skaters.  Living where we do, we're just bound to see "the stars".

They put black tarp on all the windows and doors . . . probably for their lighting purposes AND so outsiders can't peep in.  And if it isn't a double ice rink, it's a bummer because that means no ice for us that day (or days!).  So we'd get kinda mad on those days - hee hee.
