Cutting out the middlemen at the car dealership?

I understand that everyone has to get a piece of commission at the dealership. However, could I go straight to the financier at the dealership and make him an offer to cut out the salesman and manager?

  1. I typically go straight to the Internet Sales Manager at the dealership. They are usually paid a salary, not a commission. Does this mean I get a better price on the car? Probably not, but it avoids the pushy and tricky salespeople. It's a more stress-free way to buy or lease.

  2. It doesn't work that way.

  3. The F&I (finance) person is the last person you want to go to, trust me. And ontop of that the F&I manager wont decide the price of the car even if you go to them, it isnt thier job, they will go to the sales manager or gm. My F&I manager doesnt have a single clue as to how much any of the cars on my lot are, or how much to sell them for.

Best way is to go through the internet manager, dealers have thier cars competively priced already, and you can get most of the work done before you even show up. I am the internet and sales manager at a smallish dealership, and half the time if the people are serious I will give them price quotes with out them even coming in. Its a much nicer experience when you show up to the lot and already know what your looking for and about how much it will cost. Internet managers know the people who shop on the internet dont want to be bothered by plaid jacket wearing salesman, for the most part we are very upfront and make it as easy as we can.

  4. look into buying a car through  Sam's or Costco's
