Cutting the brake lines on a car?

A friend and I were having a discussion and she said you can cut the brake lines on a car with a pair of large scissors. I said you would have to have something stronger than that, like a branch trimmer or something. (lol) Who's right?

  1. Attempted murder or murder charges should nullify the discussion.

  2. You could cut the lines with a diamond nail file, scissors, paring knife, sidecuts, lots of household implements.

  3. Not to encourage any illegal and potentially deadly actions but yes, you can cut most brake lines with a regular pair of scissors if you are cutting the rubber lines.  There are two types of lines though, metal and rubber.

  4. For you standard rubber lines anything will cut through them....

  5. on  a steel line, you would need something with allot more bite than a pair of scissors. i have a pair of dykes that wont cut them all of the time. but why do you want to cut them in the first place. btw a pair of branch trimmers might work with a great deal of effort.

  6. You would be able to cut a brake rubber hose with a good pair of scissors, i know for a fact because i have cut one with a pair of good scissors, it is hard to do and you need a good grip but it is possible.
