Cy Young 2008 of AL and NL...

AL: You have to hand it to Lee, as of right now, with that record for the terrible indians & his era he is it by far.

However, possibles include John Lester, danks, king felix, Galaragga, halladay, mussina, duch...(for oakland), and saunders/santana/lackey from LA. I have no idea who will win.

P.S. I dont care if he does break the record, it is not going to Krod because he is a closer, and not even the best one in the game right now, he just has had the chances. Shields is just as solid for them.

NL: Really to me, its still up in the air right now between Lincecum, Webb, Dempster, Sabathia and Peavy. Lincecum has been dominant, but Webb is a winner. Peavy is leading league in ERA, the returning winner, and is near the top in Ks despite being hurt. Dempster is just best pitcher on best team. And Sabathia is a longshot, but wouldnt that be amazing? I just wanted to show him some love because what he is doing is ridiculous. And if he finished the season at this pace (and the brewers make the playoffs) then how can you say no to something like 11-1 with 7 complete games, 4 shutouts, 9 k/9, 1.6 ERA, BAA .200, microscopic walks, and under 1 WHIP?

Who do you think and why?

  1. NL:Brandon Webb

    AL:Cliff Lee

  2. NL: Tim Lincecum

    AL: Dice-K Matsuzaka

*I'm not sold on Cliff Lee

  3. Cliff Lee will take it in the American League but as for the National League I really don't think Webb deserves it as much as his teammate who has a better ERA and WHIP.  Dan Haren has been money but Lincecum has been filthy all season and if he can win the rest of his games I don't think anyone could argue with him winning it.  Peavy's ERA is great as usual but he's on pace to win 12 games and no Cy Young winner has won that few games regardless of ERA.  Dempster isn't even the best pitcher on the Cubs, Zambrano and Harden are but Dempster has far more wins.

  4. AL: It is probably Lee who has really stepped it up this year or Halladay who will probably be runner up who has also stepped up his game this year.

NL: Bradon Webb is looking at a good chance but Lincecum is a close behind.

  5. Cliff Lee for the AL. I mean come on, 16-2, a very strong ERA, and he plays on the Indians, one of the worst teams in baseball. He is the only bright spot for the Indians this season. While other guys like John Lester and Mike Mussina are having good years, Lee is dominating. It's gotten to the point in my mind that he should have some consideration for the AL MVP. Yeah he's on a bad tean, but what is doing right now is just flat out ridiculous for a pitcher.

For the NL, it has to be Brandon Webb. 17-4, another very strong ERA, and one of the sole reasons the Diamondbacks are even still ahead of the Dodgers in the NL West. Sabathia is doing an amazing job in Milwaukee, but he hasn't done it all season. Dempster is great at home, so-so on the road. Peavy is leading in ERA and top in K's, but Webb is just flat out dominating, like Lee in the AL.

  6. AL: K-Rod, just because he'll break the save record.  If not him, then Cliff Lee.

NL: It's a bold prediction, but I'll say CC Sabathia.  He's on pace to go around 16-0 with 9 complete games, 3 shutouts and over 130 stikeouts, which would be incredible.

  7. Lee and Webb.

Webb has a 3 win lead on any other pitcher in the NL and a fine ERA. If the season ended today he is my pick no questions asked.

Lee has been better than everyone else even for a terrible team.

  8. AL: Lee

    NL: Lincecum

  9. A.L. = Cliff Lee

    Runner-Up = Daisuke Matsuzaka

    N.L. = Brandon Webb

    Runner-Up = Tim Lincecum

  10. AL : Cliff Lee (i have a feeling though that he will falter at the end.) or Roy Halladay (7 CG, 2.75 ERA, and WHIP under 1).

NL : Tim Linceceum (You have to give it to him, hes just been dominant) or Webb (Because unfortunately the jury looks at wins, so they might choose Webb over Tim Linc.
