I'm thinking about home schooling my daughter she is having trouble in school.

I need a cyber school thought because i have no clue about Algebra and neither does my husband.

I have seen a good few ones but they say PA and I'm in NC.

What ones can I use in NC?

  2. You might also want to see if your local support group provides any coop courses.

  3. Actually, you don't need a cyber school - you need a good Algebra curriculum.  There are several out there that will teach directly to your daughter by CDRom or DVD.  My son is using one of them right now (VideoText Interactive) and actually understands it as well as or better than I do.  They have a free helpline that the student can call whenever they get stuck, and a teacher will help them through any problem.

I never understood algebra to begin with - my math teacher had a firm belief that "girls can't learn algebra" - and I'm working through this with my son.  I'm learning as much as he is.  This particular course comes with course notes, work pages, tests, a solution manual, etc. and is really easy to work from...and with the lessons on DVD, we can just rewind and rewatch anything that we have a question on.

Math U See and Teaching Textbooks are also wonderful math curricula that teach directly to the child.

With homeschooling, it doesn't mean that you specifically teach every subject to your child - it means that you get to pick and choose the curricula, resources, and outside instructors that your child will learn from.  I would really suggest attending your state's homeschool convention http://nche.com/conference/index.html to get an idea of what's all out there - it looks like many of the larger curriculum publishers are going to be there :-)  You can ask any questions of the vendors that you want - that's what they're there for - and there will be tons of "veteran" moms there that will be happy to answer questions as well.

    Hope that helps!
