Cybershot W55 better than Cybershot W100?

Question

I'm sure it is. I bought the Cybershot W55 last year and it took fantastic pictures. The file sizes went up to 3.2mb per photo but this camera which is the newer Sony W series model only seems to take pictures that can reach 2.8mb per photo.

It is 7.2MP camera just like the older W55, but I don't know if any of you have experienced both of these camera's but surely it sounds like the older model is better no?

Only difference is the size. No big deal when you get higher resolution because you can always increase the size thru photo shop or something

Amateur photo - no big deal. I but by the megapixtels and after 7 or so I never see a difference. I now have 10 - no big deal

Personally, I would go with Sony DSC-W100 Black because it has more (includes a charger).

If the W55 takes fine pictures, why are you upgrading? The new camera will probably not better them!

People are paranoid about mega pixel count - all it really means is you can get bigger and clearer detail enlargements but who can print bigger than A4?  THE single most important part in ANY camera is the Lens, repeat, the Lens.

If you have a 10 mega pixel camera with an indifferent lens you will only get indifferent photo's.  Amongst my 5 digital camera's I have an old Panasonic Lumix DMC LC33 which has only a 3.2 mega pixel processor but it has the Leica Lens and it has taken some amazing pictures with great detail and excellent colour rendition.  I frequently find myself taking this along on outings rather than its more expensive and newer stable mates. if i put it up on ebay it might make 30 quid but no more. I bought a 230 quid Canon late last year with 7+mp, the old Panasonic beats it hands down!
