Cycling Profile: Allan Davis  
Allan Davis is an Australian professional road racing cyclists and currently rides for UCI Protour Team Astana and has signed with GreenEdge for the next season. He was born in July 27, 1980 in Ipswich, Queensland. He started competitive cycling at the age
of 10 and in 1998 he took his first Australian Junior Men’s Road Cyclists Award.
In 2000, Davis showed his tremendous abilities and was able to take seventh place in U-23 Road Race Championships and ninth place in the National Road Race Championships. He improved his effort and took sixth place in the next U-23 Championships in 2001.
Allan started his professional career in 2002 and took part in the Giro del Capo and secured the first stage of the race. He also grabbed runner-up spot in GP Istria and finished third in the National U-23 Road Race Championship.
In the 2003 season, Davis secured first place in Trofeo Manacor, the fourth stage of Circuit Cycliste de la Sarthe and runner-up spot in National Road Race Championship.
Davis has great sprinting abilities and in 2004 he won the third stage of Tour de Pologne and fifth stage of Deutschland Tour. He took part in Tour de France for the first time in his career and secured the 98th spot in the race. The 2005 season
is good for Davis and he secured the third stage and point standing of Eneco Tour and fifth stage and points standing of Vuelta a Aragon as well.
He continued his efforts and in Vuelta a Murcia he showed a fabulous performance and took the third stage of the race. In Tour Down Under race he grabbed runner-up spot and third spot in the Paris-Tours. However, in Tour de France he got the fifth spot in
point standing for the green jersey behind winner Thor Hushovd and Stuart O’Grady.
In 2006, the five cyclists of Astana Wurth team were concerned in a doping case, but the Spanish officials cleared Davis. He took the second and fifth stage of Tour Down Under in this season. Davis won stage five of Tour of Qinghai Lake and also took the
green jersey after winning the points standing in 2007.
In the 2008 season, he joined Quickstep Team and the Australian grabbed the third stage and finally was able to gain a lead and took the overall runner-up spot in Tour Down Under. He continued his effort and took part in Tour de Pologne and won the second
stage with a time of 6 hours, 10 minutes and 53 seconds. He took the runner-up spot behind Murilo Fischer ahead of Lars Bak as he also took the points standing.
In 2009, Allan got off to a brilliant start and won three stages as he wrapped up the overall leader’s jersey for the first time in his career in Tour Down Under. He also took the runner-up spot In Paris-Brussels and GP de Wallonie. Davis managed to secure
fourth place in Milan-San Remo and Vattenfall Cyclassics.
Davis secured gold medal in the Commonwealth Games road race and points standing of Tour de Pologne. He also took third place in the World Championships road race and fifth spot in Vattenfall Cyclassics.
Allan is one of the most popular cyclists in Australia and recently he joined Shayne Bannan of GreenEdge team while the squad also selected other cyclists in Australia including Cameron Meyer, Travis Meyer and Simon Gerrans. If he continues his efforts then
he has a very chance of winning at the 2012 London Olympics and the World Championships in Netherlands.
