Cycling Profile: Judith Arndt
Judith Arndt is a German professional cyclist that rides for T-Mobile Women cycling team. She was born in July 23, 1976 in Kongis Wusterhausen. Arndt won the major event in 1996 Summer Olympics when she was just 20-years-old. She also won the World Race
Championship and grabbed second spot in the Olympic road race.
Judith is a track racing cyclist but when she came into road racing, she began to show her brilliant skills and was able to take the National Individual Pursuit Championships four times. She started her career in cycling during the 1995 season and managed
to take her first stage and overall Drei Tagen von Pattenson. She also grabbed runner-up spot in the German Time Trial Championship.
In 1996, she secured first place in the individual pursuit of the National Track Championship and third spot (Bronze medal) in the Olympic Games. Judith put in a tremendous performance in the National Road Championships and secured second place. She retained
her National Track Championships in 1997 and grabbed third spot in the National Road Championships.
During the 1998 season, Arndt continued her efforts and grabbed eighth place in the World Time Trial Championships and first spot in the National Time Trial Championships. She also won the first stage and finally held first place in GP Mutualite de Haute
Garonne. Arndt improved her performance and took sixth place in UCI Road World Championships Time Trial 1999 and secured first spot in National Time Trial and Road Championships.
In the 2000 season, Arndt took part in the Olympic Games and covered the distance of three kilometres in Individual pursuit and secured sixth spot. In the individual time trial she took seventh spot. Judith won the overall tenth spot in the Women Challenge
and Gracia Tour. She took numerous victories in the 2001 season while she secured fourth spot in UCI Road World Championships and fifth place in the time trial.
The German always showed her excellent skills in the road race and grabbed overall second spot in Women Challenge, Tour de’Aude Feminin and Thuringen-Rundfahrt.
During the 2002 season, Arndt continued her efforts and secured first place in German Road Championships. She won two stages and took overall victory in Women Challenge race and also showed her brilliant skills in the Tour de l’Ause Cycliste Feminin to take
her first victory. She grabbed runner-up spot in Vuelta a Castilla y Leon.
In the 2003 season, Judith won third spot in UCI Road World Cup Point’s Championship and eighth place in the road race Championships. She took the silver medal in the Time Trial UCI Championships and won second spot in Montreal World Cup and GP de Plouay.
Arndt secured a Gold medal for the first time in her career in 2004 at UCI Road World Championships road race. In this same season she also won the silver medal two times in the UCI time trial.
Arndt also took overall first place in Le Tour du Grand Montreal and grabbed runner-up spot in Tour de l’Aude Cycliste and Thuringen-Rundfahrt. Judith is one of the best German cyclists who gained a gold and silver medal in races while in 2005 she finished
third overall in the Giro del Trentino, Thüringen Rundfahrt and Damesronde van Drenthe. She joined High Road Women’s Team in 2008 and worked hard for victories, as she managed to win third place in La Fleche Wallonne Feminine and fifth spot in Holland Ladies
tour.
After a two year break she took part in the Grand Prix Elsy Jacobs and grabbed second place behind Marianne Vos and ahead of Emma Johansson. If Arndt continues with her hard work, there is a possibility that she can win the UCI Road World Championships next
year.
