Cycling Profile: Mark Cavendish - Part 2
He took the one stage of Tirreno-Adriatico and then he took a part in the Milan-San Remo, he showed his good effort and managed to win the sprint and the race. Cavendish again took two stages of Three Days of De Panne. He won the first time trial stage of
Tour of Giro d’ltalia and he was the first British cyclists who won the Maglia Rosa leader’s jersey. He also won the second and third stage of the race but after 13th stage he quit the race because of preparation of Tour de France.
Cavendish showed his winning effort and took the six stages of Tour de France and he was the first British cyclists who won the green jersey in third stage. His team worked hard in stage 21 while Mark Renshaw was in second and Mark took first place.
After finishing the Tour de France, Cavendish took a part in Tour of Ireland, winning second stage. In his road racing career he recorded 50th victory in the opening stage of Tour of Missouri in September. He also maintained overall leader’s yellow jersey
in second stage but in the fifth stage he unable to hold the lead and losing the overall lead to Thor Hushovd. Although, he quit the race after lung infection, he also selected for UCI Road World Championships but he failed to take a part on it.
Cavendish delayed the start of his 2010 season due to a dental problem. He took a part in Volta a Catalunya and grabbed seventh place in time-trial and also secured the second stage. Cavendish chose the Tour of California instead of Gio d’ltalia and he won
the first stage of California. In Tour de Suisse 2010 he faced a heavy crash in the last kilometers of the fourth stage.
When he entered in Tour de France he again crashed out in the last 3 kilometres and camera footage showed that Cavendish started the stage with a fast speed and turning to late due to this he faced a crash. Although, he won the fifth, fifth, eleventh, eighteen
and nineteen stage of the race. He also took the overall points standing ahead of Petacchi.
In Vuelta a Espana, he earned the time trial and won the 12, 13 and 18 stage and cross the finish line first and grabbed the yellow jersey.
In 2011 season, Cavendish had slow start and in February he won the sixth stage of Tour of Oman. He continues his good performance and took Grote Scheldeprij and he failed to complete the Paris-Roubaix 2011.
Cavendish also secured seconds stage of Giro d’ltalia and also grabbed pink jersey in third stage. He won his first biggest victory of this season after winning the tenth stage. Before leaving the race he also secured stage 12. Due to his good performance
he easily took part in the Tour de France and he took the five stages including, seventh, eleventh, fifteenth and twenty first stage of the race. Finally, he will be able to take the point standing and he is the first British cyclists who ever win Maillot
Vert.
He also took a part in the post-Tour Criteriums and won the Stiphout in Netherland by easily beating Andy and Frank Schleck. Canvendish won the London-Surrey cycle claasic on August 14. If he continues with his brilliant performances, there is a good possibility
that he can win the Tour de France next year.
