I'm planning to buy some cleats but I'm not sure if I'm buying the correct shoe for the correct pedal and set.

Will these pair of shoes work for: http://www.amazon.com/Shimano-R-A80-Road-Shoe-38-No-Colr/dp/B0011EJ3XE/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1216784352&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Diadora-Astro-Road-Shoe/dp/B0011EFF9U/ref=pd_sbs_sg_1

With these pedals: http://www.amazon.com/Shimano-PD-M520-Pedals/dp/B000COB22O/ref=pd_sim_sg_2

With these Cleats: http://www.amazon.com/Shimano-Pedal-Cleat-SM-SH56-Multi-release/dp/B000F5HXRS/ref=pd_sim_sg_1

Which shoe would you recommend? In my opinion I would choose Shimano

  1. Basically you buy whatever shoe you want.  You will get a set of cleats with the pedal.  as it says and I quote "The M520 features adjustable release tension and includes a set of SH51 SPD cleats with 4 degrees of float."

I highly reccomend getting a local bike store to put the cleats on the shoes for you.

Diadora and Shimano are both excellent brands.  But personally I would NOT buy a pair of shoes before trying them on first.

There's no such thing as a "correct" shoe for a cleat or pedal.  just make sure the shoe you buy is correct FOR YOUR FOOT!

  2. Step back a moment. Are you sure you want road shoes? Do you understand that walking in road shoes is almost impossible because the cleats stick out from the soles? Many places prohibit road shoes indoors because they damage the floors.

Unless you're a near-pro rider, even with a road bike, you will probably find mountain shoes preferable. Their cleats are recessed so you can actually walk in them and they won't damage floors. I don't know anyone in my local (amateur) road cycling group who uses road shoes.
