Question:

Cyclocross racing in the bay area (california)?

I'm looking to get started with cross racing. I'm brand new and am not sure where to start.

I can't find a calander for 2008 races, but judging from the 2007 races, it looks like I need a UCSF license? Do I need this for all races or only certain races?

Also, any suggestions on which events to go to as a first timer?

  1. Hi there,

http://cxmagazine.com will shortly have a comprehensive online calendar, but the bay area's calendar for 2008 can actually be found here: http://ncnca.org/cyclocross/2007/calenda...

Go to Sept. and you'll see it there.

Any race is a great race to try for a first timer, except perhaps mcclaren park, which is very hilly and rough but fun.

If you can make one of the many clinics available, that'd be a great way to ease into the sport.  And if you can find out when/where, there are some underground races in the city that are a blast.  Wear a dress to race for free.

Nice to see you're using yahoo! answers a lot for your 'cross needs.  If you just have 'cross questions, visit http://cxmagazine.com/forums - you'll get better, quicker answers from cx experts!
