It's hard to imagine that something can be so devastating,

10,000 dead, is horrendous, in UK i know we get them, having seen one once, but obviously not on this scale. What i cannot understand is why have they not accepted help. I listened with incredulity when a spokesman said that they didn't want interference from outside. Perhaps they have now i don't know, but any help with food, water, blankets, medical aid, and heat seeking devices to look for people buried

surely is what's needed.

  1. The shocking part is that this 15,000 death toll was just from ONE town alone. If that's the case, the death toll should sadly reach six figures. We maybe looking at a disaster the level of 2004 tsunami.

  2. I'm not surprised they haven't accepted help from the West. The Red Cross  has highlighted repeated abuse of men, women and children in communities along Burma’s border with Thailand, including murder, violence, and the destruction of food supplies. This regime, like the Chinese, is one of the most repressive and destructful on the face of the earth. Sooner or later, this country needs to step into the 21st century and I feel that we should offer help to all those poor people but we also need to have a change of government in that country. How we go about it is another matter.

  3. It is tragic & I heard today that aid agencies are going in to help.

It's not that long ago that their government were killing people in the streets.....have we forgotten?

15,000 is just the tip of the iceberg, without sanitation disease will be rampant!

They also have no food or water.

The only good thing which could come out of this would be if the present government falls & Burma can be much better.

Hopefully good will come from bad.

  4. It is dreadful what happened everyone must must be in shock, especially if you have lost love ones. They should take as much help as possible to get  things back to normal.

  5. Don't impose when it is clearly not requested.

    It isn't England's Burma anymore.

Save the English if you've a mind to.

  6. its so  sad whats happend,i hope they get all the help they need

  7. I live in England and I feel that although the news channels have been reporting about this event the past few days as headlining news, public sympathy/support for this event has not been as overwhelming as the big tsunami that hit Asia a few years ago. Perhaps because with this natural disaster happening in Burma, there aren't as many fellow Brits/Aussies/Americans/Europeans etc. dying/missing because of it. Unlike the tsunami.

  8. Its devastating and shows what mother nature can do. This could be re worst natural disaster since the tsunami and these people need all the help we can give but their military government won't allow it. A tragedy.

  9. hi teddy, yes it is terrible, my heart goes out to the people,   blue

  10. Yeah...-the news out of there IS pretty Grim... The stupid Military Government that runs the Country- doesn't want the World to KNOW how it's mis-managing it's affairs... And now that half the Country is in RUINS, they don't know WHAT to do..! Hopefully SOME aid will be accepted- or alot MORE people are GOING to die- from hunger & disease...  :(

  11. Yes, absolutely horrific, it is also quite scary to think what the final death toll will be, with so many thousands reported un-accounted for.
