Question:

Cyl difference on perscriptions, can this make a difference?

Usually my cyl in both eyes is -0.50 with axis of 180 in left eye and was 30 but now 40 in right eye. I am having trouble with new glasses but found when I put some old ones on which had a cyl of -0.25 in in left eye I was a lot more comfortable, not so many headaches. Can a difference of -0.25 make a big difference? Thanks for any replies.

  1. The difference in cylinder is only .25 which wont make a huge difference, but the change in the axis is what you can be having trouble with.  You should be able to go back to you doctor for a glasses recheck, which is common and free.  Explain that your old glasses are more comfortable.  They should most likely write the Rx for the old axis.  Then you go to the same optician that made your glasses with the corrected Rx and they should make them again for free since lenses are guaranteed for a year by most.
