I am in North Carolina and trying to find out how to dispose of whole cans of cryogen. I have called my county health department who transfered me to several people and nobody can point me in the right direction and the company we recieved the cryogen from (they are damaged and cannot be used) and they will not take them back. Is there a company that will dispose of these. It can't be safe for the environment. Please help!

  1. what gas is it.

cyrogen is a general name for any super cold liquidfied gas.

if you know what the gas is

many like liquidfied O2, nitrogen, hydrogen, can be vented in a open area.

  2. 78% of the Earth's atmosphere is Nitrogen. You won't be doing any harm releasing these canisters back to the atmosphere, and probably a lot less damage than we are doing with everything else that pump into it.

If you are having trouble opening them due to the damage, I suggest that you find some way of taking them away from people and property and find a way of opening them one at a time by force then leaving them to vent, before placing another there and opening it in the same way.

Not knowing North Carolina (or the US) that well, might I suggest trying to book an Army Range and ask for a sniper?
