Cysts in ovaries, what's going on?

does it hurt when they pop or burst? the doctor just told me i have some in my ovaries, but i have never had really painful periods? so i don't know if i have had them before or if its just started.

whats going on?!

  1. Most women have ovarian cysts and never know it.  They only cause pain if they get too big or burst.  The vast majority don't get big enough to cause problems and just dissolve naturally.  Nothing to be worried about!  Birth control pills help decrease the chance of cysts, but if they're not causing you pain or other problems, you're fine.

I was told at a very early age that I have "fibroid cysts" that affect my ovaries, uterus and b*****s.  I do not know if these are the same cysts you suffer from or not.  I experience a little more discomfort during my menstrual cycles and my b*****s are a bit more sensitive (and feel a little like bean bags... which makes self breast exams almost impossible!).  I have had three children and I am currently expecting my fourth.  The cysts have not caused any difficulties or complications.  I would make a point of asking my doctor for some literature on the type of cysts you have.  There are many different possibilities, and they are probably all different.  Good luck.
