Czech Republic Junior Singles and Team results
The International Table Tennis Federation Czech Republic Junior and Cadet table tennis events are being held from the 2nd to the 6th of February in Hodonin. The young players are struggling hard to gain the title as it will lead them
to the Global Junior Circuit Championship.
At the end of two days match, the results were quiet surprising. The Junior Boys events were dominated by the Hungarian players. The 15-year-old Hungarian Tamas Takatos, who also carried the Hungarian flag at the Youth Olympics 2010 in Singapore, won the
finals of the ITTF Junior Singles event. He was victorious on the first day and easily made his place amongst the top four players with the likes of Stephane Quaiche and Antoine Hachard from France and Tomasz Wisniewski from Poland.
In the quarter-finals Takatos beat Austrian Stefan Leitgeb and proceeded to the finals as he beat Tomas Mikutis from Lithuania in the semi-finals. Tomas Mikutis ranked 15 in the World Junior circuit satisfied with reaching the finals said, “I am very happy
because this is the first time I've reached the semi-finals in such an important tournament.”
The Junior Boys Double competition was won by the Polish boys Jakub Dyjas and Konrad Kulpa as they beat the Slovakian pair Matej Macha and Michal Pavelka.
On the girls squad, the 15-year-old Romanian player Bernadette Szocs outshined in the Girls Singles event to take the title. She was the top seeded player in the tournament and proved to be number one through her outstanding performance since the beginning
of the event.
Szocs has won all the games she played on the second day. She ended the hopes of the host Nation by beating Tamara Tomarava on the first day, making her way to the finals by beating Sofia Polcanova from Austria in the quarter-finals, then Yana Noskova in
the semi-finals.
In the finals she beat the number four seed Maria Xiao from Portugal. This success will provide her with an excellent platform towards the competitive Youth Olympics.
In the double events, Szocs paired with Irina Clobanu from Romania and were scheduled to compete with the German pair Anna Kreighoff and Anja Schuh, but unfortunately Anna was injured, delaying the contest which is yet to be decided.
The German pair beat the team of Polish player Klaudia Kusinska and Russian Yana Noskova, as the Romanian team overcame the pair of Dijana Holok and Anelia Lupulesku from Serbia.
The results of the Cadet Singles girls and boys events will be in shortly.
