Czech Republic and Boston Bruins’ David Krejci to move back to his native country during lockout
David Krejci, a professional ice hockey player from Czech Republic and a forward who plays for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League as a centre, has decided to go back to his home country during the NHL lockout and he will play there for HC Pardubice
in the Czech league.
The 26-year-old player who has been representing the Bruins team, which plays in the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference, for last 6 seasons, would be going back to the place where he started his ice hockey career as a junior 9 years ago.
Šternberk, Czech Republic born player, who started his career with HC Kladno’s junior hockey team in the season 2003-2004, had a great first season as he scored at an average of more than 1 point per game. In 50 games, he scored 23 goals and 37 assists for
a total of 60 points.
This performance earned him a 3rd round selection in the 2004-2005 NHL Draft, as he was drafted 63rd overall. After being drafted, he moved to Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) in Canada, where he played two seasons for Gatineau
Olympiques, who are one of the best team in the league.
The 6-foot-0, 177 pounder had a good start in the QMJHL too and scored at an average of just over one point per game, as he scored 63 points in 62 games, 22 of which were goals and 41 were assists. Second season was even better as he was phenomenal in the
centre and gave 54 assists in 55 games. He scored 27 goals as well, to take his total points tally to 81.
Krejci joined Bruins organisation in 2006-2007 season as he joined Boston’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliates Providence Bruins and had an impressive first season with them. In the very first season in seniors hockey, he scored 31 goals, 43 assists
and total of 74 points in just 69 games and this performance earned him a call from Boston in the NHL.
The Czech was not too influential as he failed to score any point in first six games and was sent back to Providence but he again made a comeback and has been one of the most regular players in last five seasons.
