Czech Republic loses to France in a CEV European qualifier match – Volleyball news
The final day of the European qualifier of the 2012 CEV Junior Volleyball European Championship – Men took place on April 15.
The three matches of the last day were held in Zdar nad Sazavou situated in the Czech Republic.
The first match of the day was played between Spain and Romania that ended in a sweep. The win went to the Spanish side along with the top rank of the tournament at the following final set scores: 25-17, 25-10, and 25-19.
The second match of the day saw a clash take place between Slovenia and Estonia that took four sets to reach its close. The win eventually went to Slovenia at the following final set scores: 20-25, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-17.
The last match of the day featured the home team contesting with the French. Despite the fact that the Czech Republic was playing in their home ground, they could not stop the French from securing a by making a clean sweep over their opponents. The score
board showed the following final set scores: 23-25, 19-25, and 23-25.
The head coach of the winning team, Jean-Manuel Leprovost, shared his feelings by giving the following statements on the victory, “We are happy with this win and for finishing second in the Pool. I have to praise the work of the organizers who set up excellent
conditions for this tournament.”
On the other hand, the coach of the home team, Petr Juda, expressed his sentiments upon the loss by making the following comments, “My players were just too nervous today and the French guys played better.”
The first set of the match was competitive with both the teams struggling to gain a significant lead but no team was letting the other stay in control for a long time. As a result, the opening set of the match went back and forth but finally came to a rest
with the French squad at 25-23.
The second set saw the French take an easy win at 25-19 but the home side escalated their efforts in the third set and got the game competitive. However, the French won the third frame at 25-23.
