Czech Republic sweeps Romania in 2012 CEV Junior Volleyball European Championship match
The city of Zdar nad Sazavou in Czech Republic is currently hosting the second round qualifier of the 2012 CEV Junior Volleyball European Championship – Men.
The opening matches of the tournament took place on April 12 with six teams clashing against each other. One of the opening matches was held between the home team of Czech Republic and the Romanian squad.
It did not take much time for the home team to secure a win over the guests as the Czech Republic won the match by making a clean sweep over Romania. Only the opening frame of the game was competitive as the second and third sets saw the Romanians only putting
in a half hearted effort. As a result, the scoreboard showed the following final set scores: 25-22, 25-17 and 25-10.
The head coach of the Czech Republic, Petr Juda, shared his views on the outcome of the match by making the following statements, “We made a lot of mistakes in the opening set with our jump service but then we switched to a more tactical service that the
Romanians had problems to control until the end of the match. We are very happy with this first win.”
On the other hand, the coach of the Romanian squad commented in the following manner upon the loss suffered by his team, “We struggled a lot in reception while the Czechs fully deserved this win, as they were also helped and boosted by their fans.”
While the Romanian captain, Claudiu Dumitru, expressed himself in the following way, “We did not play well today but we have to stay focused for the next games.”
The first set of the match saw the home team take the lead in no time at 5-0. The Romanians kept trying to close in the gap and take the lead for themselves but all they could was to trail behind all the way till 25-22. The win of the opening set got the
home team start the second set in a dominating fashion and the Czech went on to secure the second frame as well at 25-17. The third set came easily for the home team at 25-10.
