Czech Republic’s Jaromir Jagr and Pittsburgh Penguins’ journey revives next season? – NHL Updates
Pittsburgh Penguins is said to be progressing on negotiations with Jaromir Jagr in order to convince him to play for Penguins next season.
Penguins has arranged a golf event that takes place every year and players from the past and the players that are going are invited there. Reports suggest that Jagr is one of the expected guests at the prestigious event in the franchise.
Jagr has served his time for a long 27 years with Penguins already. He was brought to Penguins as a number one draft pick in 1990 and he started bagging game changing performances right from the start.
In his second National Hockey League (NHL) season, Jagr won the Stanley Cup. Not only this, he was part of the Penguins team that was able to retain the title the following year as well.
During the current season, Jagr has scored 27 goals during the regular season and scored a total of 13 points during the postseason.
Jagr is 39 years old at the moment and spent the initial 11 seasons of his career with Penguins after which he was traded to Washington Capitals.
Later on he moved to New York Rangers and now he plays in the Kontinental Hockey League and is without a contract for next season.
From the looks of it, he also wants to make the move as he sounded like a player who wanted to play for Penguins when he spoke at the IIHF World Championships while playing for Czech Republic.
After he was traded away from Penguins, Jagr had to face boos and gestures of discontent from the Penguins fans.
"The fans in Pittsburgh, they all wanted to help me and they all liked me when I was younger", Jagr told the assembled media. "Plus the biggest thing is I had a chance to watch and play with the best player ever and that's probably the best thing that happened
to me in my life".
Jagr is one of those players in the team who have come across immense honour and success. He has been the scoring champion for Penguins on five occasions and has his banner hanging in the Penguins’ locker room and is among the few players to have his posters
outside the dressing room at the Consol Energy Center.
Pittsburgh Penguins will definitely get significant help from this player and it looks for an effort from him that would be a repeat of the early 90’s.
