Czech ladies prepare to take on Israel in 2011 CEV League prelims
The Women’s National Volleyball Team of Czech Republic is set to meet Team Israel in the fifth week of the of the 2011 CEV European Volleyball League prelims.
The two sides will cross their ways for the second time in preliminary round of the tournament. In the previous run, Czech Republic clean-swept Israeli team and scored two consecutive victories. This time around, Czech musketeers are ready to give out another
winning performance in the upcoming matches.
The first match of 5th week will be played on Friday, June 24, while the second match will be staged on following day.
Czech Republic has done pretty well in the prelims so far. They have worked out a great status for them. Team is currently ranked second in Pool B. They showed their craving for victory in the previous three weeks and won 6 out of 8 matches, which is not
bad. The last couple of rounds of the preliminary round have great importance as they will reveal the qualifiers of the next round. Top two teams from each pool will advance to the next round. Czech Republic has fair chances to make it to the next stage of
the tournament.
Israel, which is lined-up for the next two matches against Czech Republic, does not post any fear on Czechs as Israeli ladies have not been able to perform up to the mark. They constantly remained in the cold waters and failed to overcome the power of strong
competitors.
Israel has captured only one match in the opening four weeks of the preliminary robin round. Currently it is staying at number four in the pool standings.
The head coach of Czech Republicans, Jiri Siller said that apparently Israel looks weak team in the pool but this impression should not influence his side. He has urged his players to display the same dedication and effort, which led them to success in the
previous matches.
Moreover, he added that Israel has some experienced players who competed in the past season. They should not be taken lightly.
He concluded, “Since we are still in contention to qualify for the final four scheduled for mid July in Istanbul, we shall try to get maximum points from these two games. Therefore we hope that quite many spectators will come to the sports hall and support
us this weekend.”
Czech Republic will have competitive edge of playing in the presence of home crowd. Both matches will be held in the city of SVITAVy in Czech Republic. Hence, Israel will be playing under pressure.
In the final week of the preliminary round, Czechs are supposed to clash with top team of Pool B, Bulgaria. Before facing Bulgaria, Czechs will definitely try to claim both matches against Israel.
