Question:

D&G Eyeglasses: DID I GET RIPPED OFF?

by  |  earlier

On July 15th, 2008 I bought the D&G 1102 eye glasses. I live in Vancouver, B.C. The frames were $242 and the lenses were $198 (I'm -3.5, no stigmatism).

The total is $440. This includes tax.

People are telling me I got ripped off!! Is that true?!

There's a picture available here:

Anyone who has an well-informed answer would be appreciated!!!

  1. No, I don't think you got ripped off. That is pretty well the going price for D&G frames...even that online site you gave the link for says regular price is 290.00 , and they have no overhead to cover.

Lenses for those rimless frames are always about 60.00 more than for a regular frame also because of extra lab charges for the edging, drilling, mounting...

You probably have polycarbonate or Trivex lenses with a very good anti reflection/ scratch resistant coating...so, the price isn't all that far out of line.

Especially that you are in Vancouver where EVERYTHING is more expensive than anywhere else in Canada , except Toronto maybe.

So, it sounds like a ripoff to your friends, but not everyone is  willing to shell out for a very high end product, or even knows the value...but that's what you got.

There is no tax on glasses btw.

They are beautiful glasses...you obviously have very good taste...but good taste doesn't always come cheap....lol
