D-Link DGL-4300 wireless router?

it says this router has a speed of 108MBPS is that ture and is that alot faster than 54mbps so is that better and would it be worth getting this router D-Link DGL-4300 wireless router

  1. Yes this is the advertised speed of both units.  I don't like D-link, prefer the Linksys models.  You need to make sure you have both the Router and the Adapter the same (Type N Linksys)

    Also keep in mind that the speed of your Internet connection at any given time has a direct impact on whatever speed you actually get.  And others on your wireless will also impact your speed.


  2. That is the theoretical speed, because wireless connections have some overhead in headers and bit checks etc.  But yes 802.11N routers are faster than 802.11G (54M).  I prefer Linksys routers though since I had a problem with a DLink 524.  Here is a nice 802.11N router: WRT160N

    Note that since 802.11n is not a standard yet, you will need to be sure to use Linksys for the PC card also. The card is WPC300N.

    Also keep in mind this is like a file transfer speed, you will not see any difference in the 2 speeds for internet surfing.
