D. Sanjay Srivatsa bags Boy’s Singles U15 title at Puducherry State Badminton Championship
D. Sanjay Srivatsa, a passionate shuttler from India, delivered a phenomenal performance and bagged Boy’s Singles U15 title after stamping his mark over S. Sri Balaji in the final clash at 31st Puducherry State Badminton Championship – III Phase
on Sunday, August 12, in India.
The impressive Sanjay, who was the top seed in the championship, had to dig into his reserves to overpower his lower ranked opponent in a sensational fight that took three games of attacking badminton from both sides.
The higher ranked Sanjay could not do well in the opening set but found his way back in the following game to make the score levelled. He was impressive in the deciding game and ended up the match in rubber games with a convincing margin.
The second seeded Balaji, on the other hand, played to his maximum potential and easily took the first game. However, he failed to overpower his rival in the following both games and eventually lost the battle in rubber sets.
The opening game was shocking for the top seeded Sanjay as he received a shocking treatment from his spirited opponent who played attacking badminton while remaining positive on score board.
Until the end of first half, it was Sanjay who remained trailing far behind his rival on score board.
After the break, Sanjay geared up his speed but failed to shake the confidence of Balaji and eventually lost the opening game with a one-sided margin of 13-21.
In the second game, Sanjay played positive badminton as he took over the control from his rival and managed to remain just ahead in the opening half.
After the break, Sanjay managed a small lead by working well at net and remained successful in taking the second game with a three-point advantage of 21-18.
In the decider, Sanjay showed a staggering performance on court as he commanded the rallies with his impressive craft and remained miles ahead on score board all the way to end up the set with an incredible margin of 21-9.
The impressive Sanjay emerged as the winner of this final battle in rubber sets with a 13-21, 21-18 and 21-9 margin on the board.
