D. Sanjay Srivatsa tames Nirmalkumar in round-of-16 clash at Puducherry State Badminton Championship
D. Sanjay Srivatsa, a talented shuttler from India, put up a staggering show of nearly flawless badminton and overpowered his country-mate Nirmalkumar in Boy’s Singles U19 round-of-16 battle at the 31st Puducherry State Badminton Championship
– III Phase on Saturday, August 11, in India.
The spirited Sanjay, who is the fourth seeded shuttler in the Boy’s Singles draw of the championship, was at his best as he played with confidence and easily overpowered his rival without showing him any mercy on court.
The in-form Sanjay was at his best as he played dominating badminton without showing any respect to his rival and easily finished off the contest in two sets with a huge margin on the score board.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Nirmalkumar put up a little resistance in opening rallies of first set but he failed to maintain his speed and also could not cope up with the aggression of his higher ranked opponent.
Nirmalkumar found himself in all sorts of trouble while playing against Sanjay and lost to him easily without taking away any game from him.
In the first game, it was Sanjay who took over the control by dictating the pace of rallies from opening points and maintained a comfortable distance on score board.
The in-form Sanjay did not spare any chance for Nirmalkumar to show his brilliance as he kept the pace high with impressive control and took a staggering lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the higher ranked Sanjay played with precision and maintained his commanding position in the game while remaining focused on court. He took the opening game with a striking 21-10 score on the board.
In the following set, Nirmalkumar played good badminton in opening rallies as he played with aggression and managed to remain stick around his rival for a while.
However, Sanjay again occupied the driving seat by accelerating his speed in all areas and took a reasonable lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Sanjay continued his positive performance and easily bagged the second set with a stunning 21-14 score on the board.
The impressive Sanjay finished off this pre-quarter-final battle in a dominating fashion by a superb margin of 21-10 and 21-14.
