hey guys!

like i said, i just signed up for tumbling classes!

i've taken them before (like 7 years ago), but I'm starting from scratch because i've basically forgotten everything.

i'm so stoked about starting (i start on sept. 15th), and i was just wondering if you had any advice for me.

*anything will help:

exercises / stretches,

what to expect,

what to wear,

etc.

and thanks a bunch for your help :)

  1. cranberry, most definatly<33

  2. definatly start streching!  you will be thankful you did! = )  splits, pike, shoulders......and some strength things would be handstands(against a wall) and bridges......yeah that should help make the process easier......what to wear.....if u have a leo and shorts that ideal.....otherwise a shirt and shorts......nothing that will move if u go upside down.....and shorts should be tight enough that a spotter wont get caught in them......if u have any questions just call the gym you are taking it from....they should have all the answers......good luck!!!!

  3. I would say start stretching definitely. It's always good to be well stretched when you tumble. To stretch your shoulders you can do bridges, put your hands on top of something like a table or couch facing towards it and away from it to get different stretches. You should also do some pikes, straddles, splits, stretch out wrists and ankles. You should also do strengthening exercises like push up, crunches, sit ups, maybe some weight lifting. Doing handstands would probably be helpful too. Running to build endurance would be a big help.

As far as what to wear, you can never go wrong with a sleeveless leotard. If you don't have one, tight dance or regular shorts and a tank top or short sleeve shirt that you can tuck in would be fine. Avoid socks ;-)

Expect a lot of hard work, but remember to have fun!
