Question:

DAQ voltage, current, temp, RH calibration?

I am setting up a DAQ system to log voltage, current, temperature, and relative humidity measurements in a lab. Is anyone familiar with how to calibrate such equipment?

We usually outsource the calibration of voltmeters, thermocouple readers, and environmental chamber controllers but after setting this system up we would like to start performing the calibrations ourselves. Can anyone provide me with a starting point?

Thanks!

  1. The National Instruments website (www.ni.com) has a lot of useful information on it.  What we do for calibration, is create an x-y (measured voltage on the x, dependent variable on y) graph, and fit a line of best fit to it using LabView (provided it is a linear fit.  From this we simply plug our measured voltage from the DAQ into the x of the line of best fit and iterate throughout the data set.

I am just finishing up a project to do this, if you are using LabView, go to www.ni.com/forums, there are experts there that will answer any questions that you might have.
