  1. How are you going to get through all the answers, then?

  2. Interesting read. Basically it says Many groups reject evolution because of religious beliefs. Nothing surprising there.

  3. Right, I've just finished reading it and it's basically talking about how ridiculous it is that so many people are still going around saying that evolution is just a theory. People like that are twats! I can but agree.

  4. Wow.

    Just... Wow.

  5. Summary:

They ask, was Darwin wrong, then say, "No."

Then they say that the majority of Americans reject evolution outright, and only twelve per cent of Americans are atheists.  The rest view evolution as the hand of God.

  6. Since you don't enjoy reading, I'll make this simple...

This belongs in the Biology section, not Religion & Spirituality.  Thanks.

  7. It explains that the word "theory" scientifically speaking is not the same as "theory" in day to day language. You know, just preempting all those good Christian arguments of "its just a THEORY!!!". So is the theory of gravity, relativity and continental drift, oh so intelligent Christian arguer.

It then explains that Americans do not completely accept the theory of evolution (the article doesn't mention it but all other developed countries do) and that the statistical breakdown on this subject in America hasn't changed much in twenty years.

Basically America is behind the 8ball on this one and needs to pick up the pace.

  8. Did you read the whole thing?

  9. Such an "enlightened" article; proving truth with presumption instead of evidence. And yet evolution is said to have not only supporting evidence, but a "vast" body of it, some magical body floating around somewhere that the elites believe in, and of course they must be correct. It demonstrates how much their theory is based on coercion.

  10. Well I just read the last paragraph...

    and to sum it up...

they (the writers) just can't believe how many people buy into creation craps.

  11. The article does not conclude anything.

However I believe in the Newtons principles of motion which says that - In order to make a change in the course of movement or to change the speed of an object , some FORCE needs to be applied.

We see that evolution of some species is very dramatic as in the case of Human, whereas the chimpanzees & gorillas & others are where they were before or they have not changed much. So it means that adaptation & natural selection is not causing equal change in ALL species but in a very few.

Therefore I have concluded that there may be some forces which caused the speedy evolution of Human and slowed down in others.

    Are they gods? Invisible?

  12. That's an old article that goes on to answer NO, he was not wrong. You read it for yourself. The cover of that issue asked "Was Darwin Wrong?". When you open the magazine, the first page has a huge "NO". It's affirming evolution, as it should.

  13. *blank stare*

  14. its too long, can someone please summarize it for me?

  15. I read it and im still not impressed.I still believe God did it all.You have to buy into too much this may or that may have happened. Its still 100% theory to me.Seems more like the theory of adaptation.National Geo didnt make any statement either.

  16. Of course he was wrong.  All scientists are partially or sometimes wrong, and their work is amended by the others that come after them.  That's how science works.  As it says in the article:

These new forms of knowledge overlap one another seamlessly and intersect with the older forms, strengthening the whole edifice, contributing further to the certainty that Darwin was right.

He was right about evolution, that is. He wasn't right about everything."

  17. Darwin is a very nice city in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is a bit hot at times but definitely not 'wrong'.

  18. I refuse to read it for you

He was not wrong, his theory was flawed here and there, but, that is the precise reason, why all teams of scientists are working on it, for 150 years and so far, they produced mere then plausible explanation of our origin

  19. if Darwin was right, then why are the primates still exist?

They should have evolved hundreds or million years ago.

  20. it says only the 12% of americans are atheists and only 37% believe both god and evolution co-existed.

the other whatever percent believes god created us pretty much as we are 10.000 years ago...

all the muslims indians buddhists sintoists apparently dont count

  21. It doesn't actually say that Darwin was wrong.

It says that Darwin's theory of natural selection is believed by many people to be wrong because it contradicts the story of Creation as told in the Judeo-Christian Bible and the Koran.

That doesn't prove anything except that a century and a half after Darwin first published his work, there are still people who prefer to believe that scripture is the literal truth instead of accepting the conclusions reached through scientific study.

  22. It says, "Americans are stupid".

    Apart from an enlightened 12%.

  23. you dummy illiteret dumbo, it says that almost half of americans say darwins wrong and that there stupid beliefs are right,  its just stupid people like you

  24. It doesn't say "Darwin was Wrong"; it says "Was Darwin Wrong?"  No wonder you don't like to read - you obviously CAN'T.

  25. The article is expressing incredulity that such a large percentage of Americans don't believe in evolution, or more to the point, don't understand what the word *theory* means in scientific terms and still think the world, and presumably the universe is only a few thousand years old, the article goes on to say that no, Darwin was not wrong:)

It really is worth investing a little time to read things for yourself, it's the only way you can learn to interpret information and make up your own mind, other wise you are relying on other people's understanding of things and not having to think for yourself, and it's good for you:)
