DC United youngster Andy Najar to train with Tottenham Hotspur for two weeks
Major League Soccer side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andy-Najar-c6046 would spend at least two weeks with English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. The 18-year-old will join the London side for a training program, after which he will return
to DC United.
The purpose of temporary switch is for the youngster to gain some exposure, experience the game in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and improve his game. Najar has already departed for England and will be training with the first team on Monday, November 28, 2011. Dave Kasper, the
DCU general manager revealed he was pleased with the deal.
Kasper said while speaking to reporters:
“We are pleased to finalise Andy's stay with Tottenham.
I think this experience will be tremendous for him. He will come away from this as a better player, and we look forward to having him back with us shortly.”
The MLS side’s general manager was glad to have the opportunity to send the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Honduras-c2918 international for such a rare chance to train with an English Premier League team. He felt the player would greatly benefit from the move and would learn a lot in his two
weeks with the Spurs.
He added:
“It's great for our players to get into a different environment and have a different experience. We feel it's good for their continued development.”
Kasper felt the MLS had an off-season which was longer as compared to that of the rest of the football playing world, which is why it was necessary for players to be given the opportunity to train during that period with experienced sides.
Kasper continued:
“It's certainly aligned with the philosophy that Jurgen Klinsmann has made public, which is that our offseason is too long and our players need to continue training.”
Najar began his career with the DC United http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787, graduating to the senior team in 2010. So far he has gone on to make 57 appearances in the League and has scored an impressive ten goals. It was in his debut season that Najar was named the MLS Rookie
of the Year 2010, making him an important part of the squad.
