I want to build an electric go-kart. I'm not sure about watts or anything yet. I'm new and confused. Also, any ideas for parts (like speed controllers) would be helpful. I want my dad to be able to ride it (he's a larger guy). Please help!

  1. ok, you have a few things to think about, there are basically three parameters you need to decide on, speed, range, and price.

    realistic packages are

Ultimate range: 30 MPH top speed 40 mile range $2500

ultimate speed: 60 mph top speed 10 mile range $2500

Best price: 25 MPH top speed 25 mile range $1500

these are ball parks, and do not include the chassis wheels etc, this is assuming you have something to work with.  and assuming about a 250-300 pound load, these figures can move around depending on what you choose, you will also need a charger, that will vary in cost from 100-5000 bucks depending on how fast you want it to charge!

email me if you need some more pointers once you have considered these things
