We'll be visiting DC with our families and would like to find a kid-friendly, inexpensive restaurant in the area of the National Mall. It doesn't have to be on the Mall (i.e. one of the Museum restaurants - are they overpriced?), it can be nearby. Would prefer non-fast food (no McDonalds, Burger King, etc). Thanks for the help.

  1. head over to Union Station via subway rail system. On the lower level you'll find so many cafe's, eataries to choose from... You can also catch a movie at the theater, indulge in the candy store, shop & sight see. My favorite is B. Smiths on the upper level in Union Station.

  2. There is a  Mc Donalds at the science  center. As for cheap NO. The value meals averaged 12.00 a piece.

  3. You might want to try the museum cafe at the American Indian Museum which is on the Mall close to the National Gallary.  It offers a variety of foods from the Americas, some kid-friendly items like burgers, and all the food is homemade and delicious.  It would average about 10-15$ a person, depending on what you get, and it has vegetarian dishes too.  An added bonus is enjoying the waterfall outside the cafe as you relax and eat.
