DDR2 800 RAM on DDR2 1066 Motherboard?!!!?

I bought a new motherboard that has memory standard of DDR2 1066.

Can I put my DDR2 800 RAM in it?!

what happens if i do so? and whats the difference between 800 and 1066?

how much difference should I expect if i upgrade to DDR2 1066 RAM

  1. You can use the DDR2 800 RAM.  You can also overclock the ram to get to 1066 fairly easy if it is good RAM.  Bump the voltage up to 2.2V for the memory and push your FSB/RAM ratio up to get the desired speed.  You definitely want the fastest RAM possible because it makes a pretty significant difference on opening programs, so it makes your computer feel so much faster.


  2. I would be more care full with overclocking -like go straight to 2.2V.When you overclock you must do that in small increments-not straight to 2.2V.

    Yes maybe his main board and RAM can handle that but does yours.

    It' easy to fry a RAM and board-faster as you think.
