DE Pannel Egboh signs with Tennessee Titans to replace injured Keyunta Dawson – NFL News
Tennessee Titans defensive end Keyunta Dawson’s hamstring injury is likely to cost him about six weeks of the current National Football League (NFL) season after his placement on the injured reserve (IR) list while the team taking advantage of the league's
new rules has filled the roster spot by signing defensive end Pannel Egboh from the practice squad.
Dawson was injured in the game versus Detroit Lions last Sunday and is yet to hit the field since then. Now the team has confirmed they have placed him on the IR which will at least require him a period of six weeks to be off the roster.
Thanks to change of the IR rules by the league just before start of the season that the teams are allowed to name one injured player to temporarily replace him on the roster.
In Titans’ case, Dawson can return to action with the season almost halfway through, provided there is no other nomination by the team for the roster replacement and he is able to recover to full health and fitness by then.
The team is hopeful about Dawson’s recovery and return within the stipulated timeframe. He did not return to finish the Lions’ game after suffering the injury last weekend and later the team confirmed he was likely to miss this weekend’s game. Now it turns
out that his injury is of a serious nature and requires a longer period to heal.
Egboh after signing with the team will take Dawson’s place from the next game against the Houston Texans. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed by either of the signatories. This includes value and tenure of the contract.
He spent the past season on the practice squad of the team and was named on the opening day roster this season. The team then left him inactive in the opening game versus New England Patriots.
The TE is upbeat about winning a call from the team. The Titans face their American Football Conference (AFC) South division rivals Houston Texans this Sunday, seeking to improve their position in the division which is led by the Texans with win of their
all three games.
