DE Terrance Knighton’s eye surgery: Jacksonville Jaguars express concerns – NFL News
Jacksonville Jaguars have expressed concerns over an unknown incident to their defensive tackle, Terrance Knighton, forcing him undergo a surgery on his eye, on Sunday, April 08, 2012.
Jaguars’ management was not aware of the incident, but was gathering information to find out what exactly happened to the player.
Jaguars refused to offer any comments on any aspect or possibilities around the incident, until and unless they themselves are fully aware of its nature and consequent eye procedure required.
According to the management, they have come to know about the incident through a couple of media reports but information in all those reports was also very sketchy with no details of the incident, whatsoever.
Only information that the team knows has come from the posting on the player’s Twitter account, which disclosed him to be at Pure, a nightclub in Jacksonville.
Again, not a single word about the incident or medical procedure was given.
Jaguars’ officials said:
“(We are) gathering information about what happened and are not able to further comment at this time."
They added:
"Our concern and our focus is on Terrance and his health and recovery."
Since the management does not know anything about the incident, it is not speculating any timeline about the player’s availability.
Furthermore, they have refrained from commenting if he was involved in a brawl with anyone at the club, which possibly could have caused an injury to his eye or any other part of his body.
Even though the latest status of his comeback remains uncertain, the player and Jaguars’ management had earlier hoped for his return into the fourth year with the start of the 2012 regular season, in September this year.
The information on all the aspects of his health, fitness and return is expected to come out after the team is able to gather details around the incident.
If he is found in violation of any rules or involved in any unpleasant situation, he faces the possibility of a penalty such as suspension in a court of law or by the National Football League (NFL).
Knighton is an important member of Jaguars’ defence and anything serious to his health and fitness would definitely hurt the team’s performance next season.
However, if all goes well with the player, as the management must be hoping for, he will be returning to Jacksonville into fourth year with Jaguars.
He has played for the side for three consecutive seasons while starting 45 games. Lately, he has assumed the central role in the team’s defensive line-up.
The player is one of the holdovers in the new side of Jaguars, with new owner, front office and coaching staff.
