  1. You can unregister by contacting your county Registrar of Voters.  (That's much simpler than being convicted of a felony.)  If you do move, you won't be registered at your new address.  If you want to unregister to get out of jury duty, that won't work.  Voter registration lists are only one source of information that the courts use.

  2. You don't "de-register"  When you move, you sign up to vote in your new court house and they get your previous address, information, etc. and it's all done for you.

  3. Move, Do not get a drivers license, Stop all utilities, cut up all credit cards. Now you are off the list for good.

  4. You said you are moving. If you are moving to another county then you are good to go. IF not then you will still be on the voters list. As far as de-registering there is no mechanism for this in Calif or any place else. However just because you are registered does not mean you have to vote.

Why are you wanting to de-register?

  5. Jurisdictions purge names of non-voters from the registration lists periodically.  It is usually after a couple of years.  I do not know the specifics for California.

  6. You can call your city office and they have a voter's issues department. Just tell them to cancel it. I had to do this in my old State upon moving to another - it's the same thing. They may ask you to mail them a quick letter stating it for formality. It's easy to do - no sweat!
