  1. Native species belong to native ecosystems that have been in existence for a very long time.  They tend to have natural predators due to this fact and are kept in balance within the ecosystem.

    Invasive species get dropped into a new ecosystem and if they find a food source they will reproduce unchecked (no natural predators target them as a food source) so they quickly tip the balance of ecosystem and outcompete others.


  2. Once a nonnative species thrives in a new habitat, it means that, aside from they don&#039;t have enemy (predator), they have abundant food and conducive physical environment. It would take some time before a predator will rise from among the organisms in the environment or the invasive species may also be followed by its old predator.
