  1. DECT - digital enhanced cordless telecommunications

    DSS - digital spread spectrum

FHSS - frequency hopping spread spectrum

WDECT - wideband digital enhanced cordless telecommunications

the WDECT this is the first I heard of, I did a little search on it, and it claims to have superior range and clarity over DECT, however, I do not understand how a 2.4Ghz telephone can make such claim, especially with how crowded the 2.4Ghz spectrum is. DECT operate within 1.9Ghz, and lower the frequency, the further the range.

DSS and FHSS are security measures to prevent eavesdroping... early cordless phones were able to be overheard with radio scanners with no modification, and even some baby monitors...

FHSS frequency hopping spread spectrum came out after DSS digital spread spectrum, and is superior in the fact that it is constantly changing channels to provide the highest quality, and greatest security...
